In 2025, Bracoden Primary School celebrated a major milestone - 150 years since it first opened its doors in 1875. To mark the occasion, the school hosted a special community celebration on Saturday 14 June, which brought together former pupils, staff, families and community members for a memorable day of reflection and festivities.
The anniversary event featured a display celebrating 150 years of school history, an exhibition of historic artefacts and pupils’ work, and creative projects. A commemorative plaque was unveiled, a special book chronicling the school’s history and achievements was launched as part of the celebrations. Pupils also showcased their talents with performances and collaborative art projects that now form lasting mementoes of the day.
The occasion was supported by local dignitaries, including the Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire, the Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP and was marked in the House of Commons when a motion was tabled to congratulate the school on this remarkable anniversary.
The 150th anniversary celebrated not just the past, but the ongoing spirit of learning, community and achievement that defines Bracoden today.
