Parent Council’s were created in Scotland to ‘involve parents and the community more fully in the running of schools. All parents are members of the Parent Forum.
The Parent Council may co-opt up to 3 members to assist it with carrying out its functions. Co-opted members will be invited to serve for a period of 2 years after which time the parent council will review and consider requirements for co-opted membership.
Our Head Teacher attends meetings as a professional adviser.
We try to keep an overview of all activities going on at the school. Amongst the duties we’ve been given is to encourage contact between parents, the school and the community. We hope parents will contact the head teacher and ourselves if they have a view to express or ideas which can help improve the running of the school.
If you would like to join or would like more information about what the Bracoden Parent Council does, please contact the school office at bracoden.sch@aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
The Parent Council are valued members of our school community and provide many opportunities and resources that benefit our children.
The Parent Council’s latest fundraiser helped us build a wonderful new pizza oven in our school garden. The children made full use of the fresh produce grown in our polytunnel, preparing all the toppings themselves and cooking their own pizzas in the new oven.
It was a true community celebration, with families, staff and friends coming together to enjoy delicious food and celebrate the children’s hard work. The event showcased not only our new outdoor cooking space, but also the teamwork, creativity and growing skills of our pupils.
